About

Physician | USAF Flight Surgeon (Lt Col) | Ordained Minister | Award-winning author-poet | KY Colonel

Dr. Ivan Edwards is the award‑winning author of Resonance of the Soul: Flowers and Harmonics, a poetic exploration of love, growth, healing, motivation, inspiration, and resilience. The collection received the Literary Titan Gold Book Award and the Independent Press Award (Distinguished Favorite) and has been widely praised for its emotional clarity and poetic depth. It has been reviewed with consistently positive reception. Several poems, including My First Love, We Danced at the Gas Station, and Even the Jacaranda Know, have been specifically selected for global review.

Dr. Edwards embodies a unique blend of physician, ordained minister, military officer, and writer, all united by a mission to serve, heal, and inspire.

As a board-certified physiatrist, he has spent over two decades specializing in rehabilitation medicine, neurorehabilitation, and minimally invasive pain management. His patient-centered approach empowers individuals to take an active role in their healing journey.

In uniform, he serves as a Lieutenant Colonel and Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, trained in Aerospace Medicine. His military service reflects his commitment to protecting and uplifting others.

Spiritually grounded, Dr. Edwards is also an ordained minister who addresses the emotional and spiritual dimensions of care. His humanitarian work spans child sponsorship programs in Uganda, community resilience initiatives, and environmental advocacy—championing the well-being of future generations.

In November 2025, the Uganda Poetry Society established an award in his honor: the Dr. Ivan Edwards Poetry Award, now recognized as one of the highest‑value poetry prizes in East and Central Africa. The award totals US $1,200, with US $1,000 designated for the adult category and US $200 for poets under 18.

As a free verse poet, he channels his experiences into nonfiction that bridges medicine, faith, and service. His work invites readers to reflect, rise, and reclaim their inner strength.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a commissioned Kentucky Colonel, Dr. Edwards continues to impact lives across multiple spheres—through healing, storytelling, and public advocacy.

“I write not to impress, but to undress the wounds we hide—so healing can begin.” Dr. Ivan Edwards.

You’ve already won because you understand what matters.

It is more than meets the eye.

It is in you because of Him.

You’ve lived long enough, lost enough, and achieved enough to see the truth: the real victory is becoming the kind of person who can look back without regret.

That’s rare. That’s precious. That’s earned.
